Driftwood Glass, Burnham Deepdale
Driftwood Glass is situated to the left of the petrol station at Dalegate Market in Burnham Deepdale. We caught up with the co-owners Rose and Kieran to find our more about their Shop in Burnham Deepdale.
What can visitors expect to find at Driftwood Glass?
We are a husband and wife team who design and make our own fused glass pieces inspired by North Norfolk. From the beautiful coastline, with its famous landmarks to country living and the animals that live here, we make a variety of glass art to suit every home.
What gave you the inspiration for the Store?
After experiencing working with glass at senior school, Rose went to art college where she met Keiran. Whilst at The University of Sunderland studying Glass and Ceramics, we both knew we wanted to have a shop in Norfolk where we could sell our work to the public.
What makes Driftwood Glass unique?
Because we design our own stock from a sketchbook, we believe that is it is unusual and different – even if you have seen fused glass before. We also offer the opportunity for both adults and children to have a go at working with glass daily at our shop in Dalegate Market.
What do you love most about what you do?
We love manipulating and pushing the boundaries of the glass. We can get some really fabulous results from simply changing the temperature the glass reaches.
Where would you recommend to grab a bite to eat nearby?
We are very fortunate to have a cafe and two pubs within walking distance of our shop. For a quick bite to eat we would recommend Dalegate cafe, for a lunch with a view The White Horse pub, or for all the family The Jolly Sailors.
What is your favourite thing to do in North Norfolk on your day off?
This is hard to narrow down. We love everything to do with the beach, no matter the weather. Our favourite beach has to be Brancaster, if you head towards Thornham you can see a colony of seals, finishing the day at our favourite pub The Jolly Sailors for a pint of local ale.
